Depart Nairobi early morning and drive north through the scenic highlands and across the equator to Samburu National Reserve (approximately 5 hours). Check in at your lodge and enjoy lunch. Afternoon game drive along the Ewaso Ng'iro River, home to crocodiles, hippos, and elephants. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge or similar.
Full day exploring Samburu with morning and afternoon game drives. Search for the "Samburu Special Five" - animals found nowhere else in Kenya: Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and beisa oryx. Also spot elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs. The palm-lined river provides excellent wildlife viewing. All meals at your lodge.
After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your scenic flight to Masai Mara (approximately 1.5 hours). Upon arrival, meet your Mara guide and transfer to your camp. Afternoon game drive in the legendary Mara ecosystem, home to the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa. Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena Safari Lodge or similar.
Early morning game drive when predators are most active. Enjoy a bush breakfast in the savanna. Return to camp for lunch and relaxation. Afternoon game drive focusing on big cats - the Mara is famous for its lion prides and leopards. Optional hot air balloon safari (extra cost). Evening visit to a Masai village. All meals at your lodge.
Final early morning game drive to maximize wildlife sightings. After breakfast, drive back to Nairobi (approximately 5 hours) via the scenic Great Rift Valley viewpoint. Arrive in Nairobi by late afternoon. Drop-off at your hotel or airport for onward travel.
