Amboseli National Park offers the most classic African imagery – enormous elephants with huge tusks crossing the savanna against the backdrop of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro. This is one of Kenya’s most popular parks and a photographer’s paradise.
Despite its relatively small size, Amboseli supports a remarkable variety of wildlife and habitats, from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli to the wetlands fed by underground springs from Kilimanjaro.
Amboseli is renowned for being one of the best places in Africa to get close to free-ranging elephants. The Amboseli Elephant Research Project has studied the park’s elephants for over 50 years, making them among the best-studied in the world.
