About Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most biologically diverse areas on Earth. Home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, this ancient rainforest offers the ultimate wildlife encounter.

The “impenetrable” forest lives up to its name – a dense tangle of vegetation covering steep ridges and valleys in southwestern Uganda. Trekking through this primeval landscape to meet gorilla families is a life-changing experience.

Bwindi is estimated to be over 25,000 years old, making it one of Africa’s oldest forests. Besides gorillas, it shelters 120 mammal species, 350 bird species, and over 200 butterfly species.
